FAQ

The following are important questions regarding having a SmartTouch Sanitaizing® Systems Authorized Service Company perform the work:

Q: Do I need to prepare anything before the technician arrives?

A: You will need to be prepared to be out of the indoor treatment area. This includes taking pets, especially birds, out of the area. While the disinfectant is working, it could be an irritant. In addition, some contaminates may become airborne and they are not safe to breathe. The agency OSHA (the Occupational Safety and Health Association) requires our technicians to wear respirators while spraying the disinfectant. For this reason, you must be out of the area during the treatment process for at least two hours after the process is completed.

Q: How long will the treatment process take?

A: The process takes about 90 minutes for an area of 2,000 square feet, longer for larger areas.

Q: Is there anything I need to do after the technician leaves?

A: You need to do nothing once the process is complete. Just let everything dry on its own, as the oxidation process takes place.  Initially, it takes just a few minutes to dry.  The only exception is if there is any residue left on glass, mirrors, countertops, or other areas. In that case, after 24 hours, just wipe off the excess with a microfiber cloth.

Q: Will the SmartTouch Sanitizing® System treatment prevent everyone from getting sick?

A: The treatment will sanitize and deodorize all surfaces.  Since some illnesses, such as the flu or common cold, can be transmitted through personal contact or through the air we breathe, we cannot prevent everyone from acquiring all illnesses

Q: How often do I need to have my home sanitized/deodorized?

A: That depends on the circumstances.  As far as deodorizing, there may be occasions when smoke, pet odors or cooking odors become an issue and you want them treated. Sanitizing, on the other hand, is highly recommended at least twice per year, late fall and in the spring. You may also feel that it is necessary to sanitize after parties and/or social gatherings.  We highly recommend treatment if someone in the house becomes ill.  Doing so will help prevent further cross-contamination.  While quarterly treatments provide good control in reducing germs and allergens, monthly sanitizing is best.

Q: Is it necessary to have my entire place treated when only my basement
smells musty?

A: No, full house treatment is not necessary, but we highly recommend you have the entire house treated because the contaminants causing the musty odors can travel throughout the indoor areas via the ventilation system.

Q: Is there anything on which the disinfectant should not be sprayed?

A: The disinfectant is safe for all colorfast fabrics and carpeting and all hard surfaces, including hardwood.  Items such as bathroom area rugs, throw rugs, silk and cotton articles should be treated for color fastness or be removed or covered prior to treatment.

Q: How long does the treatment last?

A: Test results show the disinfectant provides sanitization on carpets for 30 days and on hard surfaces, where contact takes place, for 24 hours. The addition of our SmartShield XLC™ extended control surface protectant will provide antimicrobial protection against stain and odor causing bacteria, mold, mildew and fungus for 90+ days.
